Why I like this book I am a cake decorator and my son bought me this book as a gift when I was just starting out. It isn't the BEST cake decorating book on the market, but probably is the most informative book about the tools and utensils that you will need. It gives very basic instructions on how to make certain flowers (simple enough for a beginner to achieve) though they are probably not the best flowers you will ever see, it's enough to get your confidence going and your artistic juices going. I don't like the flower making methods in this book. Some of the cakes are sloppy, though the ideas are good. The cake recipes are mediocre and this is certainly not a "good all rounder"....but a good addition to your library when you are starting out. This was a wonderful gift and extremely useful, but not the best cake decorating book on the market. See also:
