![]() Iris cristata is a low-growing, herbacious perennial native to the Eastern United States. Quickly spreading by rhizomes, this Dwarf Crested Iris grows best in organically rich, moist, well drained soils in part shade. Ideal for naturalizing areas of the garden and landscape, this Iris is found in the wild on wooded slopes and along stream beds all along the Eastern U.S. The perfect size for perennial borders, rock gardens, and wooded pathways, Iris cristata blooms in mid to late spring. The blooms are a beautiful blue and lavender with gold crests on the falls. When in large colonies, the flowers can have the effect of a wave of blue along the forest floor. Hardy in zones 3 - 9.
