The Manager's Bookshelf - a mosaic of contemporary views:
This book is a MUST for evey management undergraduate! It provides the foundation to every classic text around. I used it myself and achieved first class honours. Buy it TODAY!

When you have limited bookshelf space:
The eighth edition of The Manager's Bookshelf provides an overview of the most important management and leadership models in use today. The book consists of excerpts and articles that summarize the best and original thinking on the subject. For example, Maslow's hierarchy is classic; the excerpt from the original work faithfully presents the model and many of its facets. Peter Senge seems to have written the section about the Fifth Discipline, which is an effective summary of system thinking leading to The Dance of Change (one of Senge's later works). The book is not a quick-self-help book. The management and leadership models are meant for meditation. The editors provided a great resource to ponder the meanings, while avoiding making the book ponderous. If you have the resources, buy the original works and read them. If you need a quick reference that gives the best picture of the original material and the ability to compare some complementary ideas side by side, this is am excellent book to work with.

Great Graduate Level Cases:
This book has a lot of very good case format summaries that are a must for any graduate student whether this is required reading or not. The material is current and pertinent whether looking at the organization from the strategice management or an ethical perspective.

A great time-saver and brain-feeder:
A concise distillation of the key concepts and ideas of some of the best management books currently on the shelves. Great for managers and execs that don't have the time to read and digest the many valuable business books out there.
