Romantic Wedding Flowers: The Complete Guide to ... (ISBN 0963043129)

Categories:

Flash back to the early 90's This book is very outdated. If you're a modern bride this is not the book for you; unless you want a good laugh!
Compact reference booklet that's affordable This is a compact (80 pages, 8.5 X 11" in size), older reference book full of photos from which brides can choose their wedding floral arrangements and bouquets. This is not at all a step-by-step, how-to book, and I don't believe it was written or marketed to be one. It is simply a photo book with brief introductions regarding how to choose your flowers, what flowers are in season in what months, a reference to bouquet shapes, etc. The publisher of this book publishes floral reference books for retail florists so think of it as the type of book you use in a flower shop to pick out your wedding flowers. I own a custom floral design shop and that's how it is used in my store, and because it's affordable, brides can purchase their own copies and make notes in them. Note that this book was created some years back so the dress and hair styles in the photos are outdated (very 90's), but the floral styles are still the most commonly selected types (hand-tied round bouquets, exotic crescents and freeforms, traditional cascades, etc). This small book does a nice job of displaying the various shapes of bouquets available and also how the same flowers in the same colors can look when arranged in different shapes, styles, and sizes. You won't find all the funky new styles with feathers and beads and crystals in the bouquets or bouquet jewels that look like butterflies or bugs, but you will find all of the traditional and classic, basic styles of bouquets that most brides choose. And you'll see from the photos that although clothing fashion quickly changes, a classic bouquet is timeless and looks the same in 2007 as 1997. So many wedding design books today focus only on bouquets and ignore corsages, cake flowers, and ceremony/reception decorations, whereas this compact book does contain some of each. It provides a sampling of all types of arrangements. If you can look past the bridal models' outdated dresses and focus on the flowers, you'll find a compact, affordable floral sample book that brides can afford to own and make notes in when deciding on their own flowers and visiting florists for pricing, etc.
