Very good! This is a collection of stories from the first year of Deep Magic: The E-zine of High Fantasy and Science-Fiction. (Plug in a web search to find it) The stories are generally pretty good, but some of them didn't really do it for me--I'm not an enormous fan of humorous fantasy, of which there is a good deal, and too many of the stories involved dragons without having any really new twist on them ("Slaying the Dragon" and "Jase's Challenge" were pretty good, but the others were a little lacking). That's not necessarily bad, but it didn't really do it for me. Some stories, however, are excellent (particularly the sci-fi), and I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for some good, short fantasy and sci-fi reads. Be sure to also check out Landmoor, a trade paperback version of one of Deep Magic's novels--and, of course, check out the e-zine itself. Great book, Great Stories Quality publication with great stories. Very good read, appropriate for all lovers of fantasy and sci/fi. A nice collection of fantasy/sci-fi stories... ...to be read by the fireside. I perused all of these in what, three days I guess? And was it werth it! A brilliant collection, featuring stories from a conglomeration of brilliant authors including a bonus from M. Thomas, author of Found Things, a book I read in parts, yet enjoyed nevertheless to its fullest. U wud do well to buy this collection, my fellow fantasy/sci-fi lovers. See also:
