A Review: This book is insightful into the motivations and context of the development of Communism. Marx's excellent historical commentary in the Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte takes the reader through the events that brought about the ultimate failure of the young government following the French February Revolution during the mid 19th century. How one political figure, Bonaparte, by taking advantage of the downfall of one party to another, could systematically whittle away at the power of an elected assembly, a constitution, and a people, may be a lesson to consider in the United States during these early years of the new millenium.
