Regardless, this is a wonderful story that would have earned a 5 from me without the errors I refer to. It is definitely a worthwhile read! Danika Stanislaus has immigrated to America with her family, and while working their farm settlement, she dreams of being swept off her feet by a handsome American cowboy. Her dreams are fulfilled when a cattle stampede nearly takes her life, when Alex McClaric does indeed sweep her off her feet, right onto his horse, saving her from certain death. Alex is immediately taken with Danika, finding himself irresistibly drawn to her in spite of her overprotective brothers, and his own fears of falling in love again. But when he finds the nemesis who stole his first love turning his attentions on the lovely Danika, and her family's life and property threatened, he can't stay away, determined to protect her at all costs. It was with regret that I scored Range War Bride with 4 Klovers instead of with 5 Klovers. The story itself definitely merits a 5 Klover rating, but the frequent grammatical errors proved so distracting to the story, I felt I had to drop it to four. That said, I've read several of Brenda Williamson's other works and not found the same issue there. Range War Bride is an older work than those stories, which leads me to believe this was part of her growth as an author, as her 2006 releases have no obvious faults grammatically. In spite of the grammatical errors, the plot and the well-rounded characters shine through. Danika and Alex are a delightful couple, even as they fight it every step of the way! I will warn the readers that the story isn't without tragedy, and I highly recommend keeping a box of tissue handy when reading it. I highly recommend the story, although I would like to see Whiskey Creek Press re-publish it with new editing, to correct the grammatical issues.

Grammatical Errors or Foreigners Speaking English Dialog:
As the author, I don't think there are as many grammatical errors as the reviewer thinks. She may be overlooking the fact some of the characters are immigrants and don't have a skill of the langage and to give the story a feel for the drastic changes between the two, the story structure is less formal. Danika Stanislaus and her family immigrated to America from Russia. Her family dreams of a better life farming the land they'd purchased from the government when they'd moved west. Danika secretly dreams of loving a cowboy, just like in the dime novels she treasures. With three overprotective brothers she's afraid her books are as close as she's ever going to get to a real cowboy. Local cattle rancher Alex McClaric is content with his life. He has no interest in getting married. He became intrigued with Danika when he rescued her from a cattle stampede. Alex was very impressed with her bravery and is plagued with thoughts of kissing her. Alex and his crew were driving their herd of cattle through government land to grazing pasture when the beasts stampeded through a cornfield that was being farmed by the Stanislaus family. One of the other ranchers claimed to have sent a couple of his hired hands through the passage and they'd said it was clear. Their deceit cost the life of one woman and an entire field of newly planted corn was destroyed. If it wasn't for Alex's quick thinking and reflexes, Danika would have been trampled, luckily she only suffered a dislocated shoulder. To Danika the pain in her shoulder is worth the chance to be held in the arms of a real cowboy. Even in her bedraggled state, Alex is attracted to Danika. When her brother, Vladimir, catches them kissing at the Fourth of July celebration, he insists that they marry. Alex however isn't going to be forced into marriage just because of a kiss. He isn't willing to lose her to his rival Reed Banagher but if he doesn't make some sort of intention toward her clear he just might lose the woman he loves. With the cattle ranchers needing grazing land and the homesteaders putting up fences to keep cattle from grazing in their fields, tempers are quick to ignite. Can Alex and Danika overcome the events that will alter the courses of their lives and find love with each other? Brenda Williamson's RANGE WAR BRIDE is a touching story involving a couple who finds love with each other despite the chaos that reins around them. I love the closeness of the Stanislaus family. Her brothers are very overprotective of Danika, which presents problems for Alex. Danika suffers loss after loss but never lets any of it keep her down for long. She's strong, determined and refuses to accept a half-hearted proposal. Alex is an honest man and wants to do what's right for Danika but refuses to admit to being in love with her.
