Where was this last fall when we were knee-deep in rakes, plastic bags, and complaining teenagers? What a spiffy contraption this is. The collection system--an 8-foot hose and can cover--fits all Black & Decker blower/vacs. The idea is genius: Attach the adjustable drawstring cover to your garbage can, attach the hose to your blower/vac. Pretend you're in your living room and vacuum the yard. The leaves are sucked directly into your garbage can. No more bending, scooping, lifting, sweating, or cajoling grumpy teens into doing autumn's most bedeviling chore. The system is simple, clean, and a darned good idea. Kudos, Black & Decker. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste -- Amazon.com Review
Deposits leaves and debris directly into trash can with BV-2500. 8" hose covers 16" diameter. Adjustable top with drawstring adjusts to any size trashcan. Fits all Black & Decker blower vacs.
Time And Energy Saver -- I bought the leaf collection system to go with my BV2500 blower-vac, and found it to be extremely helpful. Instead of using the small shoulder bag that comes with the vac, you can attach the leaf collection system to a trash can or similar large container and rip that leaf pile down to nothing. As I did, you will find that the shoulder bag fills up very quickly. Having the leaves deposited into a much larger container (32-gallon trash can or similar) saves an immense amount of time. I did not experience the difficulty that some did when attaching the leaf collection system to the trash can; it just takes a little patience and you must be sure to secure it tightly. If you are purchasing a B & D blower-vac, I would highly recommend this as an addition.
Leaf Collector -- Exactly what I was looking for. I was so tired of lugging around the bag and emptying it into the garbage can fairly frequently. This is perfect. The only thing I don't like is having to empty the garbage can into the paper yard waste bags, but it is so much better.
Leaf Bag Attachment -- Had lost the origional one when I bought a replacement. This really helps with vacuuming up leaves. Now if they can make big enough trash bags the job would be complete.
Even Though It'S Not Perfect, I Would Buy It Again -- I bought my Leaf Hog with one purpose in mind: sucking and chopping. We have so many leaves, and I wanted an easy way to turn them into mulch and material for the compost pile. The Leaf Hog is perfect for that, but the collection bag was not. I was constantly having to remove the bag, then dump the contents into trash bags for storage. I spent more time fiddling with the collection bag than the actual leaf collection! I was complaining about it and saying "there's gotta be a better way," when a friend said "actually, there is..." and eureka! This contraption is a godsend. I can now fill a lined trash can before having to stop and reload. It's much more time efficient. A job that would have taken me three days can now be done in a day. (We have a LOT of leaves!) Others have complained that the fabric part that attaches to the trash can can be difficult to manage. I agree. I plan to remove the drawstring and replace it with elastic. I hope this will make it easier to manage, as well as making a tighter fit. Also, the clip that holds the drawstring in place seems to be backwards. I have to twist it to clip it. That's not right. My other complaint is that the fabric used in the top allows a fine dust of leaf spray to exit, which makes me cough. Next time, I'll wear a mask. Overall, however, if you find the collection bag that comes with the Leaf Hog just isn't big enough for the job you have, I think you'll find this system helpful. It's not perfect, but the limitations are minor. An interesting thing to note: I first put this in my shopping cart at Amazon, but didn't need it until the following autumn. So I piddled around before actually making the purchase. The price bounced around like a stock - started at around $40, then down to $35, then up to $38 and so on. By the time I actually bought it, I paid less than $25 for it. Worth every cent! I would give it five stars, except the drawstring issue seems to be a problem for nearly everyone.
Big Improvement From Carrying Around The Bag -- Not only the bag ended up carving a groove into your shoulder, but that with this approach, crushed leaves can go directly into a plastic bag that you may then dispose or take elsewhere to use as mulch. Good product!
