Assembly wasn't too bad although I have not perfected the insertion of the "shroud covers" and because I'm a girl, left them out of the equation. So far, this mower has served its purpose, very lightweight and does a great job. Excellent Little, But Powerful, Mower -- I bought this mower six months ago and it is exactly what I needed. For a small, California lawn, it is ideal. My neighbors stand and watch as I use it -- perhaps they've never before seen a woman of mature age whisking around on her lawn, pushing mower with one hand, holding cord with other? All with only a lovely purring sound from the little dream machine, rather than the roar of gas-powered mowers in our all-too-adjacent California yards. The convenience factor is fabulous -- just squeeze the handle and you're underway. To create my own "mulching" effect, I followed the suggestion of a previous reviewer (thank you, kind soul) and simply make a few rounds in the opposite direction from the mowing direction, after I finish, thereby cutting through any residual clipping residue. My lawn benefits from the mulch and I don't have to bother with raking or bag emptying. To sum it up: this mower is a little champ! My Lawn Is Grateful -- I recently ordered this electric mower after reading the reviews here and am very happy with it so far. I have only used it a few times. So, in order to present a better evaluation, I will update this review at the end of the summer. Although, I anticipate that after many uses I will still be happy with it. Having never used a mower before I was intimidated by the large gas ones. However, this mower is nothing like those gas guzzling monsters. It is small, light enough to move and maneuver, quiet, and effective. It cuts neatly and uniformly enough for me. I have a small lawn, and help from my son, so the extension cord does not bother me at all. It would probably be a little more difficult without my son's help though. Other reviews have written that it is like using a vacuum cleaner and it is true. I am sure that my lawn is grateful for this great electric mower. Love It! -- I JUST (APR 08) bought this mower and I'm very happy with it. I read all the reviews on Amazon....and was hesitant about the cord and wondered if 6.5 amps would be "strong" enough. But...I went ahead and ordered it and am totally delighted. It's light weight, EASY to put together (of course, I had 2 days to commit the assembly instructions to memory)....I was able to assemble it in about 5 minutes. And then I was off mowing...it's about 1/2 as loud as a gas mower, and the cord is NOT A PROBLEM. Honest, it's not. Of course, I've got tons of vacuuming experience, and I have a hobby of working with horses, leading them and long lining them, so, I have a lot of experience with not getting lead lines tangled up under my feet or the horse's.......but really, I had no problem with the cord at all. You need to be "aware" of it...but it's not a hinderance. And....as my lawn was SO TALL, but it was not a problem at all for this mower. I've very pleased.....here's the drawback though---and it has nothing to do with the mower's performance....but when the mower arrived, I opened the box, and the Lower Part of the Handle (the handle has two parts, upper and lower) was MISSING from the box. You could not believe how infuriating that was...so I couldn't use the darn thing.....I called Amazon in a frenzy and they re-ordered me a new mower....it came in two days (that's why I had time to commit the assembly instructions to memory)...I took the lower handle out of the new box and put it on the original mower and all was well. I then returned the second mower as it was all still nicely packed in it's box. Amazon sent me a return UPS label. So all's well that ends well. My lawn is mostly flat, but it has a lot of "ruts" in it (it's not smooth), and there are often little twigs/branches laying around, but the mower handled my yard just fine. I have about 1/5 of an acre.....If you're thinking of getting this machine...go ahead and buy it. I don't think you'll regret it. Great Starter Mower For This First Time Homeowner! -- This is the first mower that I've ever bought and I think it works great. I agree that the cord becomes something to manage and probably adds about 10 minutes to mowing my lawn, but this is the first mower I've ever bought. From seeing my neighbors deal with their gas mowers, my little electric one is a great conversation starter. It is powerful enough to mow my lowcountry 0.6 acre lawn, including some lagoon frontage. I would recommend this mower, but I may consider jumping up to the cordless one when the price drops. :) Happy mowing!
