Idle Gossip

Completely brilliant!:
The Toy Dolls are a dark horse from the original punk era in rock music. Everyone has heard of the Sex Pistols, why not the Dolls? Because these guys didn't take themselves seriously. Instead of being surly and angry, this music is fun with the same hard edge as their better known punk counterparts. Listening to them, you might wonder if they recorded and then sped up the music, but I can assure you that this is what they sound like live. Some tracks of note: the title track is a lot of fun replete with blazing guitar riffs. "Do You Want To Be Like Dougy Bell" is ridiculous to an extreme. "You Won't Be Merry On the North Sea Ferry" is a blast to listen to, but will make you wonder how awful the North Sea Ferry really is. "Geordie's Gone to Jail" is probably the most serious song on the album, but I take a little less seriously because I have a version of it in Japanese. This CD is worth every penny!

upbeat brilliance:
The Toy Dolls are awesome! Upbeat punkrock with humor. Idle Gossip is by far, I think, the best of The Toy Dolls. It rocks from beginning to end. It even sounds a little rockabilly in some songs. I highly reccommend "Wakey Wakey" if you want to listen to another great cd by The Toy Dolls.
