We moved to a new house with a smaller, terraced yard. The big, heavy gas mower was a challenge to get up and down the steps to mow the different levels so I wanted something smaller and lighter. I had read the reviews on reel mowers and the few disadvantages will still apply to the Mantis electric reel mower: mowing often because reel mower blades do not cut high grass well, going over weed stems a few times for the same reason... Just the nature of the item. But the advantages of an electric motor running the blades makes this item all worth it! You can seriously mow with one hand as very little energy is needed to cut your grass. The battery lasts a good hour or more, and even if it runs out, you have a normal reel mower left that cuts just as well with normal reel mower effort. My wife, who never cuts the grass, loves this mower and is light enough for her to carry up and down our steps. Very sturdy construction and safe as the electric motor has a kill switch when you are not at the helm. No expensive or smelly gas to add and very environmentally friendly. You really cannot go wrong with this item! Ok. Lawn Mower -- MADE OF PLASTIC AND THE BATTERY DOES NOT LAST. THE BLADE IS THE ONLY THING THAT IS MADE OF STEEL.
