does a great job...just a bit tedious:
have already reccommended it to a family member who bought one too. when my teenage son broke his arm at the beginning of summer i bought it to keep him busy and let him make some money. he has scanned a few thousand of his dads old slides so far and it works great. only complaint is he wishes it could hold more slides at a time! all in all a good product at a decent price...just be prepared to spend a bit of time doing it.

Seriously, this has to be one of the easiest pieces of equipment I've ever used. I'm scanning old family slides. The simplicity of this piece of equipment has helped me quickly turn old slides into digital images. It works with several photo editing software packages. I'm using Picasa and it has been flawless. You can change the resolution of the image you are scanning. Easy to understand; straight forward instructions. Set up took no time at all. Quality of images if great! It has brought back to life many old photos of family and sparked some fun conversations! An easy recommendation! Well worth the money.

Great Value:
Scanner was up and running out of the box in 15 minutes. It is a far superior product compared to the UMAX 1220U it replaced. The only issue is a minor one with the MP Navigator EX 1.0 software. The scanner can handle 35mm and 120 size film and mounted slides, but 35mm is the only drop-down option available for film size. It has no effect on the scan quality and I just ignore that setting. 1000+ Photos scanned Beautifully!:
I bought this scanner to archive and condense 50 years of photos and have been at it a few months now. It's fast, quiet, very reliable. At first I wasn't happy with the quality, but: USER ERROR. I pumped up the DPI to 600 and now they're great. Huge file sizes, but nothing my MAC and Photoshop can't handle. I feel this was a great investment.
