Just Great: I love Lambeth's first album, 'Midnight Blue,' also. This one if anything is even better. Her vocals are more assured and prettier (if too the voice is forward a bit in the mix). Accompaniment is still great though as on the first one. She's able to breathe new life into chestnuts like "My Blue Heaven," "With a Song in My Heart," "Blue Room," "Let's Misbehave" & others-- no mean feat. And the rarer songs here like the fun "I Wish I Were Twins," "Dream Man" or Mercer rarity "If you Were Mine" are terrific. Like Barbara Rosene, she takes the best of the '20's/'30's style of singing and subtly updates it without gimmickry, while still respectful of the material/source, & earlier singers. There're of course more 'emotional/emoting' approaches, but Lambeth is one of the best of a small coterie of contemporary singers who let the material speak for itself and yet swing effectively without histrionics.
I know that it's wonderful: Dawn played in person with her band for my wedding. She is an awesome performer both on stage and on cd.....if you haven't heard this gal, you're missing out!!
